God's Perfect Gifts.

God's Perfect Gifts. "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights" – James 1:7. +++ Once there was a young attorney in New York who was single. Every year at Thanksgiving the senior partner of the firm would buy everyone a fresh turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner. The young man never knew what to do with his turkey, since he did not have a family, but every year he accepted it graciously. That night, as he rode the subway home, he wondered what to do with the large prize sitting in his lap. He didn't know how to cook it, and his family lived in another state. As he travelled home that night, a dishevelled and discouraged looking stranger sat beside him on the subway. They began to talk, and the attorney learned that the man had spent the whole day looking for a job, but without luck. He had a large family, and was concerned about what he would do for Thanksgiving. The attorney was thrilled to find someone who could u

You Ought To Give Them A Hand...

In today’s Gospel we hear about the Good Samaritan. It is very important for us to be givers and helping toward others because you'll never know what a great impact you might have on someone because of your kindness. You never know what someone may be going through so always be quick to say something positive or lend a helping hand. The Lord will bless and reward you just the same as you bless and help others. +++ It was a very hot summer day when Herman was walking home from a cool dip in the ocean when he noticed a man perspiring profusely as he was trying with the help of his two young sons to push his broken-down car up an incline. Herman looked at the struggling trio and said to himself, "Here is an opportunity for service. You ought to give them a hand." But an opposing voice within chimed in, "No, It's none of your business. You'll get yourself all hot and dirty. Let them take care of their own responsibility." Eventually he yielded to the better

Better not Bitter!

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:2-4. “Trials and tribulations make us better and not bitter.” +++ There is a great lesson in the story of Ben Hur – a young Jewish lad who is charged with a crime he didn't commit. In a travesty of a trial he is condemned to the galleys. They chained him to a bench in the hold of a ship and to an oar. For weeks and months, then years he is forced to pull on that oar. If he should ever slack up, he will feel the sting of the lash. "But finally Ben Hur escapes from this barbaric punishment. It is time for Ben Hur's famous chariot race with Mersala, the haughty Roman. The chariot race is ultimately a test of strength and endurance. As Ben Hur whips those great horses around the inner ring, it is clear that he is the stron

Remember and Persevere.

"But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.” – Jude  1:20-21 . +++ A man who flew his own plane, or so the story goes, got tired of the long automobile trip from the airport to his country cottage which was situated on a lovely lake. So he equipped his plane with pontoons so he could land on the lake in front of his home. However, on his first trip with his newly equipped plane, he headed for the airport as he had always done. As he was going in for the landing his terrified wife yelled, "What are you doing? You can't land on the runway … you don't have any wheels!" "Fortunately, he was able to swing his plane around and head for the lake. After he landed safely, he heaved a big sigh of relief and turned to his wife and said, 'That's about the dumbest thing I've ever done!' The

Get Ready!

“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.” – 1 Corinthians  1:27 . My dear sisters and brothers, God uses what the world deems useless and past its shelf life to accomplish amazing feats. That’s just His style. So if people have written you off, called you “useless” or “dumb” and treated you as insignificant, GET READY! God can and is about to use you to do the impossible. He’ll transform and empower you to do what you and your critics never dreamed possible! +++ There was once an old donkey that decided to go somewhere deserted to spend its last days. It found a suitable place, laid down and died after a few days. God looked down at the donkey and said, “I can’t use this donkey.” Along came the vultures and foxes, picking off chunks of flesh from the donkey. It was a sorry sight. God looked down at the donkey and said, “I still can’t use this donkey.” Then, the ants and other critters of the wilderness

Sweet Gesture!

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." – Colossians  3:12 . +++ A man often bought oranges from an old lady. After they were weighed, paid for and put in his bag, he would always pick one from his bag, peel it, put a segment in his mouth, complain it's sour and pass on the orange to the seller. The old lady would put one segment in her mouth and retort, "Why, it's sweet." But by then he was gone with his bag. His wife, always with him, asked, "The oranges are always sweet, then why this drama every time?" He smiled, "The old mother sells sweet oranges but never eats them herself. This way I get her to eat one, without losing her money. That's all." The vegetable seller next to the old lady, saw this every day. She chided, "Every time this man fusses over your oranges, and I see that you always weigh a few extra for him. Why?&q

Stand Up For Jesus...

If you have a personal relationship with Christ you will understand this if not, it may be confusing... I encourage you to take the time to find out more, you may be missing more than you can even imagine... Blessings. This is a true story of something that happened just a many years ago at University of Southern California. +++ There was a professor of philosophy there who was a deeply Committed Atheist. His primary goal for one required class was to spend the entire semester attempting to prove that God couldn't exist. His students were always afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable logic. For twenty years, no one had ever had the courage to go against him. Sure, some had argued in class at times, but no one would win because he would say to his class of 300 students, “If there is anyone here who still believes in Jesus, stand up!" In twenty years, no one had ever stood up. They knew what he was going to do next. He would say, "Because anyone who believes in

My Time Is Coming...

“By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.” – Hebrews 11:7. A lot of people say they have faith, but in tough times they fall apart, they feel like God has disappointed them, they are not going to be happy until the storm is over. You have to realize that God is in control of that storm, nothing is happening without God's permission. If that storm is going to keep you from your destiny, God would have never allowed it. When you trust God, keep your faith, and believe that God can calm the storm because we serve a God who walks on water. +++ Once upon a time, an elephant and a dog fell pregnant at same time. Three months down the line the dog gave birth to six puppies. Six months later the dog was pregnant again, and nine months on it gave birth to another dozen puppies. The pattern continued. When God Created Fathers!‏

Psalm 121:1-2 “I will lift up my eyes to the hills — From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” A father is someone who takes the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take. A father is a person who's around, participating in a child's life. He's a teacher who helps to guide and shape and mould that young person. One Father is more than a hundred schoolmasters. +++ When the God was creating Fathers, he started with a tall frame. A female angel nearby said, "What kind of a Father is that? If you're going to make children so close to the ground, why have you put the Father up so high? He won't be able to shoot marbles without kneeling, tuck a child in bed without bending, or even kiss a child without stooping" God smiled and said, "Yes, but if I make him child size, who would children have to look up to?" And when God made a Father's hands, they were large. The angel shook her head and sai

Indeed, God Is Good!

A short true story- ********  There was an old man at our church who had loved God all of his life. This man John, walked around saying "God is Good". He said it all the time, whenever and wherever he was. When John got married he said, "God is Good". When John lost his job he said, "God is Good". When John's father died he said, "God is Good". When Johns wallet got stolen he said, "God is Good". Well, you get the idea, no matter what John did, or what happened to him, we would always hear him say, "God is Good". A few months ago, John was diagnosed with cancer. The disease had spread rapidly and he was told by his doctor he'd have only a few weeks to live. Still, even on his death bed, John could be heard by everyone in the hospital repeating his famous line, "God is Good". Our pastor Charles was Johns best friend. Charles went every day to visit John in the hospital. And every night before Charles left John

Laziness…A Faith Killer!

Prayer needs to be an essential part of each of our lives. Many times we become lazy in our commitment to the Lord concerning our prayer time and whether we realize it or not, we are opening a door for the enemy to attack our life either spiritually or physically. It is important that we never forget that God is the sustainer of our lives and as such we are to continually be in communication with Him. +++ An old mountaineer and his wife were sitting in front of the fireplace one evening taking life easy. After a long silence, the wife said: "Jed, I think it's raining. Why don't you get up and go outside and see?" The old mountaineer continued to gaze into the fire for a while, sighed and then said, "Aw, Ma, why don't we just call in the dog and see if he's wet." +++ That's what you call the height of laziness. And I wouldn't want to say that we are downright lazy, but we all have a lazy streak in us. And laziness is a faith killer. Laziness i

Just By His Grace!

It is easy to get discouraged when things are going bad. But we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” +++ Heavy rains remind us of challenges in life.  Never ask for a lighter rain, just pray to God for a better umbrella. - That is the attitude! Life is not about finding the right person, but creating the right relationship. It's not how we care in the beginning, but how much we care till the very end. Some people always throw stones in your path. It depends on what you make with them; a Wall or a Bridge? - Remember you are the architect of your life. Search for a good heart, but don't search for a beautiful face, coz beautiful things are not always good, but good things are always beautiful. It’s not important to hold all the good cards in life, but it’s importan

God's Word Will Equip You!

Many times we try to do things our way and do not seek God's will for a particular situation. The benefit of first seeking the Lord is that He promises to direct your life in the best possible direction as we read in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” +++ Unaware that his patient arrived in his office, a famous surgeon was caught reading a book intensely while waiting for an important patient. Curious. The patient asked his doctor what book he was reading. “Was it a new medical journal? Was it a new scientific finding? “ No. “It is a Bible.”, he exclaimed. His patient asked, “Will your Bible help you before my operation or after?” His reply. “During.” +++ The surgeon knew that his skill and intellect are nothing without God’s power and favour. Sharpen Your Axe.

I believe it is important that we realize and always keep in mind that it is by the strength and power of Almighty God that we are successful in the things He has called us to do. If we depend on our own strength and will, then we will eventually burn out and fail. This story illustrates how we can be successful in life on our own strength but sooner or later we will get dull and need to be sharpened and this can only take place by spending time with the Lord and allowing Him to refresh us. +++ A young man approached the foreman of a logging crew and asked for a job. "That depends," replied the foreman. "Let's see you fell this tree." The young man stepped forward and skilfully felled a great tree. Impressed, the foreman exclaimed, "You can  start Monday ." Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday rolled by - and  Thursday afternoon  the foreman approached the young man and said, "You can pick up your pay check on the way out today." Startled, th

JESUS....The Right Way!

Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy” meditate on these things. +++ In a recent NCAA cross-country championship held in Riverside, California, 123 of the 128 runners missed a turn. One competitor, Mike Delcavo, stayed on the 10,000 meter course and began waving for fellow runners to follow him. Delcavo was able to convince only four other runners to go with him. Asked what his competitors thought of his mid-race decision not to follow the crowd, Delcavo responded, "They thought it was funny that I went the Right Way." Delcavo was one who ran correctly. +++ In the same way, our goal is to run correctly; to finish the race marked out for us by Christ. For Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. We can rejoice over those who have courage to follow, ig

God’s Direction Last Forever!

"What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." – James 4:14b. That verse in the book of James is a true statement and it points, like a flaming arrow, at the futility of living our lives with selfish motives. James points out the folly of making all kinds of plans and schemes just to make money, just to make our lives more comfortable. He urges us, instead, to seek God's will and do the good laid out for us to do. That, in effect, is a life of consequence, a life that will reach into eternity. +++ An executive in a huge company in the United States, was making thousands of dollars and continually planned how to make more. His boss loved him. His colleagues envied him. Some of them hated him. His wife left him and his children barely know him. Honour Begets Honour!

“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.” – Colossians  3:20 . Honouring your father and mother is being respectful in word and action and having an inward attitude of esteem for their position. God exhorts us to honour father and mother. He values honouring parents enough to include it in the Ten Commandments. +++ A son took his old father to a restaurant for an evening dinner.  Father being very old and weak, while eating, dropped food on his shirt and trousers.  Other diners watched him in disgust while his son was calm. After he finished eating, his son who was not at all embarrassed, quietly took him to the wash room, wiped the food particles, removed the stains, combed his hair and fitted his spectacles firmly.  When they came out, the entire restaurant was watching them in dead silence, not able to grasp how someone could embarrass themselves publicly like that. The son settled the bill and started walking out with his father. At that time, an old m

Persistence Pays Off.

“Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.” – 2 Corinthians  4:16 . Even life's many irritations and problems have their place. They may cause us to change directions. Or prod us to greater achievement. Or keep us moving along when it's easier to go nowhere. Are you simply making the best of a bad situation, or will it make the best of you? +++ A story is told of one of America's greatest leaders. It is actually a story of repeated failures and dogged persistence: In 1831 he failed in business. In 1832 he was defeated for the state legislature. In 1833 he failed again in business. In 1834 he was elected to the state legislature. In 1835 his sweetheart died. In 1836 he had a nervous breakdown. In 1838 he was defeated for Speaker. In 1840 he was defeated for Elector. In 1843 he was defeated for Congress. In 1846 he was elected for one term to Congress. In 1848 he was defeated again for Congress. In 185

Namaste Ji !

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” – Luke  6:31 . "Namaste" is a polite Indian gesture of greeting or farewell. From Hindi, the word literally means "bowing to you." Namaste has also been used to mean "I honour the sacred that is within you." What a remarkable thing it would be to actually honour the sacred that is within each person we meet! Even strangers. Nobody would go unnoticed and everybody would count. Has this ever happened to you? +++ One day after we had moved to a new town, my wife Judith did grocery shopping. We moved few food items with us so she filled four grocery carts full. She asked if she could pay with an out of state currency. All of the groceries had been checked and sacked. "I'm so

Tantalizing but Unrewarding...

“I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure . . . All was vanity and grasping for the wind.” – Ecclesiastes  2:10-11 . +++ In Greek mythology, King Tantalus offended the gods and was punished in the underworld. He was placed in a lake in water up to his chin, but whenever he attempted to satisfy his burning thirst the water receded. Over his burning thirst the water receded. Over his head were branches laden with choice fruit, but when he tried to satisfy his hunger they eluded his grasping hands. Tantalus, therefore, became the symbol of utter frustration. Even today his name is remembered in the English word Tantalize. +++ Outside of a relationship with God, many things in life are tantalizing but unrewarding. The author of Ecclesiastes pursued happiness through knowledge, pleasure, riches, and work. Nothing satisfied the hunger in his soul. So he wrote, “Vanity of vanities, all is vanity” (1:2). It was only when he focused on knowing and pleasing God ( 12:13-14 ) this he found li

Do people mistake you for Jesus? That's our destiny, is it not? To be so much like Jesus that people cannot tell the difference as we live and interact with a world that is blind to His love, life and grace. If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would. Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to church. It's actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day. You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been bruised by a fall. It is, after all the natural way that children are nurtured. He received food, clothing, shelter and education. He got an allowance, and finally, when he went to university, his parents sent him money each month to pay his room and board. The child used to communicate each week with his parents, but, as his life got busier, he would forget to write or call, and he would not be home when his parents called him. Each month however his cheque arrived in the mail. Over time, as the child need's grew and he spent more money on things he wanted, he found that it was very difficult to meet his payments for books and clothing and food. He went into the water and called his flock, but no, they wouldn't follow him. So he picked up two lambs and, with one tucked under each arm, he plunged into the stream and crossed it without even looking back. When he lifted the lambs the old sheep looked up into his face and began to bleat for them. But when he plunged into the water, the sheep plunged in after him, and the whole flock followed. Stand by. Me

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death [or through the darkest valley], I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4. Let this story be a simple reminder that God is always with you regardless of the storms of life, and wants you to know that the sun will rise again upon your life and overshadow every obstacle that you had to go through. +++ "One night while my young son was sleeping, a storm began brewin outside. Today’s Thorn Is Tomorrow’s Flower...

We don't always understand why things happen in contrary to our expectations. But we need to remember that God is the One who sees the picture and He sometimes accomplishes the goal at hand in different ways than we would expect it. Just because God does it differently in ways that we do not always understand, I want you to be confident and know that God is in control and will always bring good out of the bad that we see. +++ Once there was a man who asked God for a flower and a butterfly. But instead God gave him a cactus and a caterpillar. The man was sad. He didn’t understand why his prayer was not answered. Be Humble and Be Exalted.

It is important that we always have a humble heart and not think of ourselves more highly than we ought to think.  The Bible says in Proverbs  16:18 , “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” "Humble yourself before the Lord and He will lift you up." – James  4:10 . +++ One beautiful spring day a red rose blossomed in a forest. The rose turned its head and remarked, “It seems that I am the most beautiful plant in this forest.” Then the rose looked at a cactus and said, “Look at that ugly plant full of thorns!” The pine tree said, “Red rose, what kind of talk is this? Who can say what beauty is? You have thorns too.” The proud red rose looked angrily at the pine and said, “I thought you had good taste! You do not know what beauty is at all. You cannot compare my thorns to that of the cactus.” “What a proud flower”, thought the trees. The rose tried to move its roots away from the cactus, but it could not move. As the days passed, the red rose would

The Immensity Of God…Who Can Comprehend!

The concept of the Holy Trinity - one God in three and three in One - has always been a difficult concept to grasp. +++ The story is told of St Augustine of Hippo, a great philosopher and theologian. He was preoccupied with the doctrine of the Blessed Trinity. He wanted so much to understand the doctrine of one God in three persons and to be able to explain it logically. One day he was walking along the sea shore and reflecting on this matter. Suddenly, he saw a little child all alone on the shore. The child made a whole in the sand, ran to the sea with a little cup, filled her cup with sea water, ran up and emptied the cup into the hole she had made in the sand. Back and forth she went to the sea, filled her cup and came and poured it into the hole. Augustine drew up and said to her, “Little child, what are you doing?” She replied, “I am trying to empty the sea into this hole.” “How do you think,” Augustine asked her, “that you can empty this immense sea into this tiny hole and with t

Who is Rich?

Once, a lady with her family was staying in a 3-star hotel for a picnic. She was the mother of a 6 month old baby.  "Can I get 1 cup of milk?" asked the lady to the 3-star hotel manager. It is important that we don't put so much emphasis on the physical aspects of life, but we should focus more on the spiritual aspect, which is eternal and will not perish like the material things of this world.  Paul tells us, “Do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.  For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." Material greed is foolishness in the eyes of God and how many people waste their life in pursuit of what God gives freely those who love Him. +++ An American tourist's visited a priest, Hofetz Chaim, and was astonished to see that the priest home was only a simple room filled with books plus a table and a bench. The tourist asked, 'Reverend Father Chaim, where is your furniture?' 'Where is yours?' replied the priest. 'Mine?' asked the puzzled American.  But I'm a visitor here.  I'm just passing through'. "So am I', said the priest.&qu

Come to think of this?....... 1. Eternal life = free 2. Church entrance = free 3. Christ's salvation = free 4. God's love = free 5. Breath of life = free A. Cigarette = pay B. Prostitution = pay C. Alcohol = pay D. Nightclub entrance fee = pay E. Powers to rule the world = pay Then why are people paying for hell while PARADISE is free? Think twice Believe in Christ and you shall be saved..                     We always think of Valentine's day  Birth day Father's day Mother's day Children's day Our day, Farmer's day Teacher's day Christmas day Independence day Boxing day, This day, That day, Day in Day out. Intended For Choice Work!

“We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” – Ephesians  2:10 . +++ A traveller was visiting a logging area in the Pacific Northwest. He watched with great curiosity as a logger, working alongside a mountain stream, would periodically jab his sharp hook into a log as it went past and separate it from the others. This visitor could not see any reason as to why the logger would grab certain logs and let others go by. When the visitor asked the logger about it, he replied, "These logs may all look alike to you, but I can recognize that a few of them are quite different. The ones that I let pass by grew in a valley where they were always protected from the storms. Their grain is rather coarse. But the logs that I have pulled aside come from high up on the mountains. They were beaten by strong winds from the time they were quite small. This toughens the trees and gives them a fine grain. We save these logs

Heavy rains remind us of challenges in life.  Never ask for a lighter rain, just pray to God for a better umbrella. - That is the attitude! 💚➖➖➖➖➖➖ Life is not about finding the right person, but creating the right relationship. It's not how we care in the beginning, but how much we care till the very end. 💚➖➖➖➖➖➖ Some people always throw stones in your path. It depends on what you make with them; a Wall or a Bridge? - Remember you are the architect of your life. 💚➖➖➖➖➖➖ Search for a good heart, but don't search for a beautiful face, coz beautiful things are not always good, but good things are always beautiful. 💚➖➖➖➖➖➖ It’s not important to hold all the good cards in life, but it’s important how well you play with the cards you hold. 💚➖➖➖➖➖➖ Often when we lose all hope & think this is the end, remember God and pray, it’s just a bend, not the end.' - 💚➖➖➖➖➖➖ Have faith and have a successful life. One of the basic differences between God and humans is, God gives, g

We Are Victorious In Christ Jesus!

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians  15:57 . Why did Joshua succeed where others did not? It’s vitally important to first say that the reasons all lay in Joshua’s own heart, not in his circumstances. That’s the difference between what happens for some people and what doesn’t happen for others. Success is in ourselves and God’s Word, not in our circumstances. +++ It was June 18, 1815, the Battle of Waterloo. The French under the command of Napoleon were fighting the Allies under the command of Wellington. The people of England depended on a system of signals to find out how the battle was going. One of these signal stations was on the tower of Winchester Cathedral. Late in the day, one letter at a time, it flashed the signal: "W-E-L-L-I-N-G-T-O-N- - - D-E-F-E-A-T-E-D- -." Just at that moment one of those sudden English fog-clouds rolled in. The news of defeat quickly spread throughout the city. The whole countryside wa

❤DATE WITH A WOMAN…!

Read on..you will be touched too..!  After 21 years of Marriage, my Wife wanted me to take another Woman out to Dinner and a Movie. She said I Love You but I know this other Woman loves you too and would Love to spend some Time with You. The other Woman that my Wife wanted me to take out was my MOTHER who has been a Widow for 19 years, but the demands of my Work and my three Children had made it possible to visit her only occasionally. That night I called to Invite her to go out for Dinner and a Movie. 'What's wrong, are you well,' she asked? My Mother is the type of Woman who suspects that a Late Night Call or a Surprise Invitation is a sign of Bad News. 'I thought that it would be pleasant to be with you,' I responded. 'Just the two of us' She thought about it for a moment, and then said, 'I would like that very much.' That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick her up I was a bit Nervous. When I arrived at her House, I noticed that she too see

ONE DAY WHEN I DECIDED TO QUIT

I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality… I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God. “God”, I asked, “Can you give me one good reason not to quit?” His answer surprised me… “Look around”, He said. “Do you see the fern and the bamboo?” “Yes”, I replied. “When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light.I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor.Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. In the second year the Fern grew more vibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo. He said. “In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would not quit. In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would not quit.” He said. “Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignifica
