Are You Compassionate?
"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." – Colossians 3:12

Every time you
see people with unnatural fear in their eyes, low self-esteem, or an apologetic
posture, they're silently crying, "Teacher, don't you care if we
perish?" (Mark 4:38). We can build churches on every corner and decorate
them with the finest tapestry and artefacts, but if people can't find
compassion among us, they'll pass through unchanged by our programs, our
politics and our pronouncements.
Do you have a
compassionate attitude? Or are you like the preacher who returned from a
preaching trip and one of his members met him at the railway station.
The man said,
"Preacher, a tornado wiped out our home."
The preacher
said, "I'm not surprised, given the way you've been living!"
The man
continued, "It also destroyed your house too, preacher."
Stunned into
silence the preacher finally said, "Ah, the ways of the Lord are past
human understanding!"
Don't wait
until calamity touches you before you have compassion for others.
Reach out with
a strong hand and a soft heart and touch them with the love of God.

What does he
see in me that even though he knows my sinfulness, He says, "You are
precious to my heart"?
St. Francis of
Assisi said, "Preach
the Gospel at all times and when necessary use words."
Stay Blessed!
